Neighborhood Halloween Party

We had an awesome Halloween this year!  The Germans do not celebrate Halloween.  They don't go trick-or-treating or dress up or anything, although you do find some costumes and decor in German stores, but that could be for all the Americans who live here.  Since Germans do not celebrate Halloween, all of the American families that live off-post are invited on-post to go trick-or-treating.  We did this last year and it was sooooo crazy!!  This year instead of asking for treats on-post our neighborhood decided to have a progressive Halloween party.  We started at my house and went down the row until we got to the last house (5 houses) in our small complex here.  Everyone had a great time and we didn't have to deal with all of the craziness on post.

Katriana was Ariel, the Little Mermaid - her favorite princess.

Josef dressed up like Mario (seems to be popular this year) because he loves to play Mario Brothers on the Wii.

Gretchen was a cute little ladybug.

We have 14 kids in our neighborhood......here they all are!

My house was first.  I played a game where you had to find skeleton bones and put them together.

Then I did a game where everyone stands on a number and when the music stops I pick a number out of a hat and whoever is on that number gets their candy.  Of course we played it until every kid had their bag of candy!

Next, my neighbor, Tricia, did a fun scavenger hunt.

Here is my neighbor, Lara, in her Mad Scientist's Lab.  She did a great job dressed as the part and everything.  She made boxes full of things for the kids to touch like fingers, ears, brains and tongues.

Here is Josef and Luke checking out the worms.

Katriana was a bit hesitant to stick her hand in the boxes, but she did it!  Most of the other girls refused to touch anything.

After the lab it was on to Sarah's house for crafts.  She had cute finger puppets for the kids to make as well as molds for chocolate dipped pretzels.

Mmmmmm.

This was a cute picture of Gretchen and Mitchell.

The last house had a game where you had to eat a donut off of the rope without using your hands.

After playing the donut game we headed inside for some yummy chili, hotdogs and cupcakes!  What a great way to end the evening.

We are blessed to have such great neighbors!!  We've had many neighborhood parties over the summer and now have another wonderful neighborhood memory to add to the list!!
