Every year our neighboring town of Kutzberg has a torch walk or fackelweg. So we gathered up some neighborhood friends and headed over! There is nothing more fun than carrying around a fire torch!
Here is the neighborhood crew with their unlit torches.
Waiting patiently for the big log to get lit so they can light their torches.
Finally, the important city people, like the mayor on the left, are preparing the log.
And the log is lit!!
The ceremonial lighting of the torches. After this the kids get to light their torches and then it trickles down to everyone else.
Waiting to walk.....
Let the walk begin!!
We walked through the farm fields on a marked trail. It was about 5 kilometers.
Katriana and her good friend, Brooklyn. She is really sad because Brooklyn is moving very soon and there will no girls here to play with.
The torch walkers at night!
It was a fun, fiery night!

Very cool!
I'm sorry Katriana won't have any girls her age to play with. Hopefully that doesn't last long. :(
The children get to participate in such exciting traditions. I can't imagine doing something like this with children in the States.
